Ayurveda, which literally means the science of life, aims to maintain and regain the balance of Doshas, also simply known as biofunctional energies, which consist of Pitta, Vata and Kapha.

In daily practice, healthy lifestyle, including yoga, meditation, breathing exercise, and diet, is adopted to keep these three Doshas, which are sanskritically called Tridoshas, in balance. If one or more of these energies are not in harmony, Ayurvedic doctors will prescribe herbal regimens to regain the balance.

In addition to the imbalance of Doshas, the impaired function of digestive fire or Agni contributes to the accumulation of metabolic wastes or Ama. Panchakarma or Ayurvedic Detoxification procedures, which enhance circulation, improve digestion and stimulate excretion, will be assigned to completely remove such impurities.
